The Comic's Corner by Marvin Terry

Baseball Almanac is pleased and honored to present a series of original baseball related cartoons by artist Marvin Terry. Each one of his magnificent drawings takes a unique look at our national pastime — a game we love, a game we sometimes do not love...

"If that's so silly (reading comic books in the locker room), how come every time I put one down, somebody else picks it up?" - Hall of Famer Yogi Berra

Trivia 'art' alert: The three umpires featured on Norman Rockwell's April 23, 1949, Saturday Evening Post cover were Lou Jorda, Beans Reardon and Larry Goetz.

The legendary Peanuts cartoon started by Charles Schultz first appeared in print in 1952. Forty-one years later, Charlie Brown hit his first home run during the ninth inning and won the game for his team. Schultz commented, "I think it's a mistake to be unfaithful to your readers, always to be letting them down."

Did you know that the first illustration of base ball was made in a childrens book published in 1744 called "A Little Pretty Pocket Book"?
