2001 All-Star Game Box Score

Baseball Almanac is pleased to present the box score to the 2001 Midsummer Classic which was played on July 10, 2001 at Safeco Field in Seattle, Washington.

"I had a shot of adrenaline or a long case of the goose bumps, I'm not sure yet, but coming to the plate, I was excited. I was a little worried with the shadows. I went up there and said, 'God, it's hard to see. Let me just keep things short and put the ball in play.' " - Cal Ripken, Jr.

Major League Baseball described the 2001 All-Star Game with the following headline, "The Midsummer Classic looked a lot like the Fall Classic."

Did you know that this victory was Joe Torre's third consecutive All-Star win? How about that Torre was now one of only three managers to win their first three All-Star Games (Tommy Lasorda and Tony LaRussa are the other two)?

All-Star famous firsts include this being the first game without American & National League umpires (they are now all referred to as Major League umpires) and this was also the first Midsummer Classic without representative League Presidents.
