The 1969 Midsummer Classic was originally scheduled for July 22, 1969, but a horrible rain storm forced a postponement.

This particular National League win marked their seventh consecutive victory and the fans turned out in force to see who would win setting a new record at the gates with $417,832 in receipts.

What does Willie McCovey have in common with Arky Vaughan? They are the only two National League players (Vaughan was the first and it was during the 1941 All-Star Game) through this particular date to hit two home runs during a single All-Star Game.
