The Professional Baseball Player Database
The Professional Baseball Player Database is a valuable research tool; it's particularly valuable for finding a quick answer about a minor league career, or a team's roster for a specific season.
If you're looking to see who played for the Clinton Pirates in 1955, or what teams Walt DeFreitas played for in his minor league career, then this is the right tool. |

"I love this database, and have refered to it several times a month for the past three years. I've recently used the database to help identify the major league teams [that] staffed the Danville Warriors in 1970 (9 teams contributed players), to learn which Marion Indians alumni reached big league ball (only one: Roy Hawes, for 3 games), and to determine when Ted Simmons
played in Cedar Rapids (1967). This is usually information I have elsewhere in my library, but the database is a faster resource, and valuable for that. Note, however, that this is a limited resource. The Professional Baseball Player Database is not a substitute for a statistical library. The statistics given are only the basic categories, and the structure of the data permits only a handful of quite specific queries. Sometimes that's what I need, but for much of my research Pat's database is a tool I use to prepare myself for further investigations. Despite the limitations, PBPD is a delight. There's a wealth of information here, and both casual fans and serious researchers will find it valuable." - Joel Dinda
