Box Score of No-Hitter by Hideo Nomo

Hideo Nomo became the seventh Los Angeles Dodger to throw a no-hitter and the first pitcher to throw a gem in the unfriendly confines of Coors Field. This particular gem, which was the twentieth no-hitter of the Dodgers organization, was special not only because of the location, but also because it was thrown by a pitcher born in Japan and followed closely by his friends and family back home.

"I cannot say it was impossible, but I never was concerned about that. This is a big accomplishment for the team, not just for me. The team comes first." - Hideo Nomo

A wet pitching mound, from a two hour rain delay before the game, caused Hideo Nomo to abandon his tornado-like wind-up after the first inning and pitch the rest of the game from a stretch motion!

Did you know Hideo Nomo threw one-hundred ten pitches and sixty-six of them were called or swinging strikes?

Rich Westcott, author of No-Hitter, wrote the following, "A pitcher has about as much chance of firing a no-hitter against the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field in Denver as someone would have sliding down Pike's Peak in a canoe."
