The Alabama A&M baseball program started in 1957 and Cleon Jones was their first — and only — player to make it to the Major League level.

On September 22, 1965, during the fifth inning, with no men on base, one out, Bob Friend on the mound, Jones became the first Bulldog to hit a major league home run.

Did you know that there was only one former Bulldog player who made it to the show? Send corrections or updates to Baseball Almanac.
