"I am using the exact same grip as him (Esteban Loaiza). With a combination of him and (Mark) Buehrle, I think I can really use them to my advantage." - Scott Schoeneweis in the Arizona Daily Star

Duke University M.L.B. Player Alumnus

The Duke University baseball program started in 1889 and Wade Lefler was their first player to make it to the Major League level. Names that appear on the chart above in bold print are in the Duke University Hall of Fame.

"Mr. College Baseball" (known in the major leagues as Jack Coombs) was the head coach of Duke University (1929-1952) for twenty-four (24) years and during that time won three (3) NCAA District titles, four (4) Southern Conference and seven (7) North Carolina Championships. He retired from coaching when he was seventy (70) years old and finished with a 381-171-3 record.

Did you know that there are thirty-two (32) former Duke University players who made it to "the show"? Send corrections or updates to Baseball Almanac.
