Duquesne University Baseball Players Who Made it to the Major Leagues

Baseball Almanac is pleased to present a comprehensive chart of every Duquesne University alumnus who played baseball at Duquesne University AND made it to the Major League level.

"He (Joe Beimel) has trouble with command and leaves too many pitches over the heart of the plate. He has made five errors in 52 major league chances but has one of the best pickoff moves in the bigs, making him extremely difficult to run on-only one of six would-be thieves were successful on his watch last year. Beimel is a good athlete who can handle the bat, though he gets few chances in relief." - Stats, Inc. (2004 Fantasy Report)

Duquesne University M.L.B. Player Alumnus

Duquesne University's baseball program started in 1888 and Lew Moren was their first player to make it to the Major League level. Names that appear on the chart above in bold print are in the Duquesne University Hall of Fame.

The Duquesne University fight song,The Victory Song (Red and Blue), was written in 1926. It was composed, written and set to music by the Reverend Thomas J. Quigley (class of '27):

We’ll sing hooray for the Red and Blue,
A big hooray for the Red and Blue;
For the flag we love on to victory,
And when the foe is down,
we will raise a mighty shout
And sing hooray for the Red and Blue;
We’re all your sons and daughters true.
Now with all your might, give them
fight,fight, fight
for the grand old Red and Blue.
