Hofstra University Baseball Players Who Made it to the Major Leagues

Baseball Almanac is pleased to present a comprehensive chart of every Hofstra University alumnus who played baseball at Hofstra University AND made it to the Major League level.

"In his (Ken Singleton) first season with Montreal, Singleton had troublesome rashes that were finally traced to an allergic reaction to the Expos' wool uniforms; the club had to order double-knit uniforms especially for him." - Writer Jesus Francisco Cabrera on BaseballLibrary.com

Hofstra University M.L.B. Player Alumnus

The Hofstra University baseball program started in 1938 and Brant Alyea was their first player to make it to the Major League level. One day after his Major League debut (September 12, 1965), Alyea became the first former Pride player to hit a major league home run.

Besides the two listed above, who played baseball & attended Hofstra, there have three other former major league players who attended Hofstra, but did not play baseball their. They are: Larry Eschen, Don Taussig & Hank Webb.

Did you know that there are two (2) former Hofstra University players who made it to "the show"? Send corrections or updates to Baseball Almanac.
