Stony Brook University Baseball Players Who Made it to the Major Leagues

Baseball Almanac is pleased to present a comprehensive chart of every Stony Brook University alumnus who played baseball at the Stony Brook University AND made it to the Major League level.

"I wouldn't even go there (being amongst the elite closers) now. This is my second year doing it, and I've got a long way to go to consider that at all. Guys like Mariano Rivera and Eric Gagne, you see what they've done. I've got a few more years to go before I can say I've done what they've done." - Joe Nathan in the San Francisco Chronicle (Henry Schulman, 06/14/2005)

Stony Brook University M.L.B. Player Alumnus

The Stony Brook University baseball program started in 1966 and Joe Nathan was their first and only (to date) player to make it to the Major League level.

When Joe Nathan played at Stony Brook the school's name was actually the State University of New York at Stony Brook (which is on his stats page). In 2001 they changed their name to the currently used Stony Brook University label.

Did you know that there was only one former Stony Brook University player who made it to the show? Send corrections or updates to Baseball Almanac.
