"I express my thoughts. I'm a screamer, a yeller and a cusser. I never hold back. I'm no Messiah, but I'll guarantee no one will ever outwork us. When I hire someone, he better work at it or hear from me." - Dallas Green (1981 Cubs General Manager Press Conference)

University of Delaware M.L.B. Player Alumnus

The University of Delaware baseball program started in 1882 and Vic Willis was their first player to make it to the Major League level.

There are an additional four Major League ballplayers who attended the University of Delaware, but did not play for the Blue Hens while attending classes. Those players were: Curly Ogden (who did play at Swarthmore College), Jack Meyer (who did play at the Wake Forest College), Nick Testa (who did play at the University of Florida), Tom Herr & Andy Carter.

Did you know that there are nine former Delaware players who made it to "the show"? Send corrections or updates to Baseball Almanac.
