"When he's (Ivan Rodriguez) playing with the bats he's trying to 'wake them up.' When we aren't hitting well, we assume it's the bats fault, so we try to shake them and wake them up to get hits." - Curtis Granderson on his personal blog (09/21/2007)

University of Chicago at Illinios M.L.B. Player Alumnus

The University of Chicago at Illinios baseball program started in 1949 and Curtis Granderson was their first former player to make it to the Major League level.

Did you know that there was only one former UIC player and two non-playing students who made it to the show? Send corrections or updates to Baseball Almanac.

Curtis won his fair share of awards while at Chicago including All-Newcomer Team (2000), Player of the Year (2002) and All-Time Honor Roll (2002).
