The University of Chicago at Illinios baseball program started in 1949 and Curtis Granderson was their first former player to make it to the Major League level.

Curtis won his fair share of awards while at Chicago including All-Newcomer Team (2000), Player of the Year (2002) and All-Time Honor Roll (2002).
