Single Season Leaders for Caught Stealing in the American League

Stealing in a game is legal, but getting caught could easily cost your team at a chance for scoring. Highly proficient base thieves dominate this list making the old argument about the value of a steal debatable.

Raw speed and the ability to steal a base are needed to appear on Baseball Almanac's chart of the top one-hundred (100) American League single season caught stealing leaders as if you are not attempting the steal, you could not get caught stealing as often as these players have. Note: A bold faced entry denotes that the player was active during the previous Major League season.

"If I can't do it, if I'm out there making mistakes, I'm going to be the one who will hang up my shoes. But I was chosen to play baseball." - Rickey Henderson on SignOnSanDiego.com (Rickey: Old Dawg May Be Up To New Tricks, Tim Sullivan, 05/10/2005)
