1999 Baseball Hall of Fame Ballot

On December 1, 1998, the Baseball Writers Association of America (BBWAA) began voting for future inductees into the National Baseball Hall of Fame. The ballot below is an actual example of the one used by writers during the election and it had to be returned by December 31, 1998. Election results will be announced on January 5, 1999.

The ballot contained the names of twenty-eight eligible candidates including players who received at least 5% of the ballots cast in 1998, and first year players that are selected by a screening committe and designated by a '+' next to their name on the sample ballot.

"A woman will be elected president before Wade Boggs is called out on strikes. I guarantee that." - 1999 Hall of Fame Ballot Member George Brett
