National League No Hitters

Words alone cannot describe pitching's second highest "club" and still one of the most desirable goals — a no hitter. These elusive gems are masterpieces of a career on the mound and a mystical feat that must be witnessed to be fully appreciated.

Tossing a complete game with no hits are all that is required to join this elite group of National League pitchers. A group we here at Baseball Almanac truly appreciate and hold in the highest regard during a day and age when the home run is king.

"But every time I go, I try my hardest to be a pitcher, not a thrower." - Jose Jimenez on June 25, 1999

Did you know that on October 15, 1892, Bumpus Jones pitched a no hitter during his Major League debut (first game ever)?

On August 16, 1893, Bill Hawke became the first Major League pitcher to throw a no-hitter with the mound 60' 6" away.

Sandy Koufax was the first pitcher in Major League history to throw four no hitters during a Major League career (and one of those four was a perfect gem).
