Did you know that the Union Association was formed out of opposition to the player reserve rule and that they obtained their players by "raiding" the National League?

Dick Burns was never given a serious chance in the National League, but went twenty-three (23) and fifteen (15) in 1884 in the Union Association.

During his 1884 season Ed Cushman started four games, pitched in only four games, completed all four games, and won four of his four games (including one no-hitter).
