"I was just thinking (when he needed the triple to complete the cycle on August 14, 2003), hit the ball hard, get it on the barrel and get it in the gap. You know, see what happens. But I think Torii (Hunter) was playing a little over to left-center. It really happened to just work out perfectly." - Travis Hafner |

| Travis Hafner Stats by Baseball Almanac |

Do you know how Travis Hafner became known as Pronk? The January 19, 2007 issue of "Sports Illustrated" (Franz Lidz, Pronk of the Plains) brings the nickname to life: He became Pronk in 2001, during his first spring training with the Rangers. At the time, Hafner answered to Project (because he was so green) and Donkey (because he circled the bases with the clumsy canter of a jackass). One day teammate Bill Selby yelled, "Hey Project. What's up, you big donkey?" Hafner bristled: "You can't call me both!" So Selby tried fusing the two handles. "Donkject didn't sound quite right," Hafner says. "But Pronkey..." Pronkey begat El Pronko, which begat Pronk. "I'm at the point where I like it better than Travis," he says. "Everyone calls me Pronk." Well, not everyone. "The truth is, I hardly every call him Pronk," says his mother, Bev. "I prefer Pronkinator."
You can follow the team links in the chart above to locate common statistics (singles),
