On April 19, 1900, Bill Dahlen of Brooklyn set the record for most putouts by a shortstop on opening day with nine!

On July 7, 1899, Monte Cross of Philadelphia set the record for most putouts by a shortstop in an extra inning game with fourteen in an eleven inning game!

On May 26, 1916, Buck Herzog of Cincinnati set the record for most putouts by a shortstop with nine, yet he did not have a single assist!
