Second Basemen Double Play Records

The last National League player to tie the double plays in a game record of five by a second baseman was Ted Martinez of Los Angeles on August 21, 1977.

On May 20, 1950, Jerry Priddy of the Detroit Tigers started a Major League record five double plays AND is still the only second baseman in history to start five in one game.

Did you know that Bobby Doerr (Boston on June 25, 1950) and Bobby Knoop (California on May 1, 1966) both hold the Major League record for double plays by a second baseman in a double header with eight?
