Total Bases Records

The only player in Major League history who has five seasons (1927, 1930, 1931, 1934 & 1936) with more than four hundred total bases is Lou Gehrig.

Did you know that Dal Maxvill of the 1970 St. Louis Cardinals holds the record for fewest total bases in a season, he had eighty-nine, where at least one-hundred fifty games were played?

Pitchers are not often closely associated with total bases; however, on August 15, 1886, Guy Hecker hit three singles and three home runs for a Major League record (most total bases by a pitcher during a game) fifteen total bases.
