World Series Sweeps

Baseball Almanac presents the World Series dominators. Each of the following teams went to the World Series, but one swept the other before it became too much of a Series making it known that though they both made it to the Fall Classic, one of the two was truly dominant.

"Man, if I made one million dollars I would come in at six in the morning, sweep the stands, wash the uniforms, clean out the office, manage the team and play the games." - Hall of Famer Duke Snider

There have been twenty World Series sweeps in history. The American League has won / swept thirteen Fall Classics and the National League has won / swept seven Fall Classics.

Did you know that eight of the thirteen American League World Series sweeps were courtesy of the New York Yankees? In the National League only the New York Giants and Cincinnati Reds have hade more than one Series sweep.

Other interesting general World Series stats through 2007 include one-hundred eight shutouts, one perfect game, and eleven instances where a team lost the first two games yet rallied to win the Series.
