On September 25, 2003, in a game against the Devil Rays, Carlos Delgado became the fifth (1. Lou Gehrig, 2. Pat Seerey, 3. Rocky Colavito & 4. Mike Cameron) American League player to hit four home runs in one game. Delgado hit his first home run in the first inning off Jorge Sosa, 2 men were on base, 1 man was out; his second home run in the fourth inning, also off Sosa, bases were empty, no outs; his third home run in the sixth inning, off Joe Kennedy, bases were empty, no outs; and his historic fourth home run in the eighth inning, off Lance Carter, bases were empty, no outs.

Carlos Delgado was a three time Silver Slugger Award winner who truly was a consistent slugger; finishing with three 40-home run seasons, eleven 30-home run seasons, and thirteen 20-home run seasons. Delgado - who is in the top 50 in baseball history in home runs, grand slams, home run percentage, intentional walks, on base plus slugging and slugging average - did not receive serious consideration for induction into the National Baseball Hall of Fame (3.8% votes in 2015 / removed from ballot), but he was the the tenth person inducted into the Toronto Blue Jays Level of Excellence, joining these previous nine honorees; Roberto Alomar, Paul Beeston, George Bell, Joe Carter, Tom Cheek, Tony Fernandez, Pat Gillick, Cito Gaston and Dave Stieb.
