His biographical data, year-by-year hitting stats, fielding stats, pitching stats (where applicable), career totals, uniform numbers, salary data and miscellaneous items-of-interest are presented by Baseball Almanac on this comprehensive Sid Farrar baseball stats page.
"Very little has ever been said about old reliable Sid Farrar, who guards the initial bag in such good shape. He seldom has an error and often stops wild throws from the infielders. But yesterday's game gave him one chance to distinguish himself and he did it nobly. (Jack) Glasscock caught one fairly and drove it at him like lightning, but Sid was there and Cap was retired." - The Times (05/19/1889, Philadelphia Takes Another Game From the Hoosiers, Page 2)

Sidney Douglas Farrar was a Major League Baseball player with the Philadelphia Phillies (1883-1899) and Philadelphia Athletics (1890). Sid was the first from the tiny town of Paris Hill (4.0 square miles), which is now called South Paris.

Did you know that Sid Farrar was the father of Geraldine Farrar, one of the leading operatic and concert singers of the first half of the 20th century? When Sid had finished playing baseball, he sold his habadashery in Massachusetts and he and his wife accompanied Geraldine to Europe where she trained and became a major figure, particularly in Germany. When the family returned to the U.S., Geraldine was a mainstay at the Metropolitan Opera, frequently performing with Enrico Caruso. Sid followed her career closely, attending most of her performances, and old ballplayers often attended too, hoping to meet Sid afterwards. [Celebrities Related to Major League Baseball Players]
