Carlton Ernest Fisk was a Major League Baseball player with the Boston Red Sox (1969-1980) and Chicago White Sox (1981-1993). Pudge, his nickname, was the first unanimous American League Rookie of the Year (1972) recipient. That year, Pudge hit .293, 22 home runs, 28 doubles, and he led the American League with nine triples (tied with Joe Rudi of the Oakland Athletics) — the last catcher to lead the league in three-baggers.

Did you know that when Carlton Fisk hit thirty-seven home runs in 1985, thirty-three were hit while he was catching, setting a new American League single season record for home runs by a catcher, held previously by Lance Parrish who had 32 in 1982? Fisk's junior circuit record has since been broken, twice, by Terry Steinbach (34 HRs / 1996) and Ivan Rodriguez (35 HRs / 1999).
Did you know Carlton Fisk once held the Major League record for most games caught (2,226) in baseball history until June 17, 2009, when he was surpassed by Ivan Rodriguez? Fisk still holds the American League record for games caught and is one of only six "Ironman Catchers" (Bob Boone, Gary Carter, Jason Kendall & Yadier Molina are the other four), backstops who caught more than 2,000 games.
Did you know that when Carlton Fisk homered on August 17, 1990, it was his 328th career home run (hit while catching), breaking the Major League record for most home runs by a catcher, once held by Johnny Bench? Pudge finished his career with 351 home runs, most by a catcher, until Mike Piazza hit his 352nd on May 5, 2004. Fisk, through today, still holds the American League record for homers by a catcher.
Postseason home runs are not counted in a player's regular season statistics, but Carlton Fisk had two additional noteworthy homers, both taking place in the 1975 World Series. One of those two took place in the 12th inning of Game 6 - a walk-off homer off Pat Darcy of the Cincinnati Reds, tying the Series at 3-3.
