In 1996, Todd Worrell became the first Los Angeles Dodgers closer to save 40-or-more games in a single season, establishing a new team record of forty-four saves. In 2002, Eric Gagne became the first Dodger to save at least fifty games in a season, and one year later (in 2003), he saved a franchise record fifty-five games - a franchise record yet matched through today.
