"Rollie Sheldon noticed the slip of paper on his locker stool, left by Pete Sheehy, Yankee Stadium's longtime clubhouse manager. 'Call Mr. Bair, right away,' it read. 'I thought, This must be something important. Maybe they want me to speak at a dinner somewhere,' Sheldon recalls, a half-century later, from his home in Missouri. 'So I went to the phone and called, and it was the Bronx Zoo, and I asked for Mr. Bair. � I turned and there were about 15 guys in a corner, laughing.'
